Are Rockwool panels fire rated?

Yes — stone-wool (Rockwool) is a non-combustible A1 core, the highest reaction-to-fire classification. It’s the standard choice where a fire rating is mandated, such as commercial kitchens, boundary walls and compliance-driven cold rooms.

What thickness should I choose?

50–75 mm suits partitions and fire walls; 100 mm is a common cool-room wall; 150–200 mm is used for colder set-points. Rockwool is heavier than EPS or PIR, so confirm structural support and use the calculator to size panel counts.

How does Rockwool compare to EPS thermally?

Thermally they are similar (λ ≈ 0.037–0.040), so R-value per millimetre is close. The difference is fire and acoustics: Rockwool is non-combustible and dampens sound, at higher weight and cost than EPS.
